THE BATH RIDE PAGES - 2005 ride report
The 2005 Bath Ride was a Bike Week event hosted by The Wheel Thing! There were 7 brave riders (most were partly clothed). The record of the ride page is below. Hopefully it will serve as inspiration for future rides. The small turn out of the ride was due to the coordination being done from outside Bath, and no leafleting preceeding the ride. The Wheel Thing was excited to host the ride, so it was hastily added to the programme. In future, it's likely that a bit of local coordination could easily lead to a 80 or more participants in a Naked Bike Ride.
Here's the 2005 schedule:
3pm - Riders assemble at Green Park Station's temporary velodrome.
3pm-4pm - World Naked Bike Ride will start (wait for announced start).
This year, The Wheel Thing will host the launch of the first World Naked Bike Ride in Bath. If you have questions, get in touch with the UK rides coordination person Jesse at 0781 458 7361 or e-mail uk [at] worldnakedride.org
Bath's first World Naked Bike Ride launches at The Wheel Thing (8-11 June 2005, Bath). It will be a featured part of the Wacky Races at Green Park Station on the final day of the amazing festival.
The Wacky Race against oil dependency - the World Naked Bike Ride will be a co-operative race, not a competetive race. The route will be determined by those riders who assemble for the race.
This should be an amazing afternoon of various things going on, and a great supportive setting for the race against oil and clothing dependency - The World Naked Bike Ride in Bath.
Participants should assemble at 3pm in Green Park Station's temporary velodrome and expect to ride between 3pm and 4pm - the ride time will be announced on the day (and possibly beforehand at this website).
The Wheel Thing is providing free camping for cyclists, so why not show up earlier in the week and come to the whole festival from Wednesday the 8th through to the extra day of celebration on Sunday which is "Walcot Day" when further wacky races are scheduled.
